Media & Maintenance

Media Supply

FILTER SAND & GRAVEL/ANTHRACITE FILTER MEDIA
The filter sand in an enhanced MS Filter slow sand plant never needs to be replaced…but if you’re operating a third party plant that requires media replacement or top ups, we can help with that. If you provide us with your filter specifications we can source, supply and ship the sand and gravel you need.

GRANULAR ACTIVATED CARBON
The GAC in MS Filter Carbon Contactors will need to be replaced when water sampling reveals that there is no longer change in quality after the sand filter vs after the carbon contactor. MS Filter can quickly source, supply and ship replacement carbon to ensure your carbon contactor is ready and effective during periods of higher organics in the raw water, such as during turnover events.

REMOVAL & REPLACEMENT OF MEDIA
MS Filter can provide full-service media supply, removal of expired media, and placement of new media from start to finish. Contact us to start the process of evaluating your project so we can tailor a solution to your needs.

SUPERVISION & PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Our staff can be on-hand to supervise media placement to ensure correct ordering and levels, and to help minimize carbon dust in the plant. We can provide technological solutions for clean and efficient media placement, and will advise on the use of proper PPE to ensure the safety of your operators and crew.

Maintenance Plans

The MSF system will not be obsolete a few years after installation. The filter is a highly efficient biological process that does not rely on pre-treatment chemicals or frequent chemical cleaning. It requires a simple hydraulic cleaning 2 to 4 times per year, and in normal operation there are no moving parts on the filter system. The ozone system is robust and modular in construction with redundancy in components that are easily removable for service. The MS Filter System enhanced slow sand filtration system requires minimal operator involvement, and with a simple but regular maintenance program, this robust package plant can perform for decades.

We offer System Maintenance & Inspection Plan, which include:

- Filter Maintenance: The Roughing Filters require a monthly cleaning and the Slow Sand Filters require cleaning 2-4 times per year. A trained MS Filter technician will travel to your plant to work with the operators to review cleaning procedures and inspect the filters.

- Ozone Maintenance: An ozone site visit will include diagnostic checks and evaluation of equipment, oxygen purity testing, required maintenance, and an annual air filter change.

- Compressors Maintenance: A service technician will visit your plant annually to perform routine service including air filters, drain valve maintenance, belt replacement and an overall inspection.
